MC.63: The Matrix - AI's Infinite Video Game
Another step towards creativity explosion with generative AI. This time in gaming.
The Matrix is not the movie sequel you're thinking of. Itβs a new foundation model generating endless, high-quality video at 16 FPS. Real-time control included:
Infinite video generation
720p quality
Real-time tweaking
Works for both game and real-world scenes
You write a prompt about a white car in a desert and you can drive a BMW on an infinite imaginary desert landscape. No game-code, no assets, from text to game.

They fed their models with internet videos and AAA game footage. I'm unsure about big game studios seeing this as fair use of their materials.
Copyright questions aside, it's another step towards a game industry earthquake.
If consistency improves, e.g., mountains not disappearing after a turn, we can imagine an explosion of indie devs and tiny studios pumping out AAA-quality games.
Wild ideas and executions will create the next best titles.
The first ones are likely to be weird but could also create a new game category.
Last and perhaps even more important, even if you take away the real-time control, their research is a massive gain for video generation where most current models are limited to short clips.
Cheers,
Sam
