MC.35: OpenAI Paves the Way for AI Self-Regulation
This week, delve into the shift towards self-regulation in data usage, the rise of OpenAI's "Media Manager," and the intricate dance of partnerships and copyright in AI training.
Hello everyone,
Last week, I asked who was still using ChatGPT to confront the Datos chart results showing low engagement rates.
44% of you are still using ChatGPT, which is less than I expected since you are AI early adopters and I often discuss AI here. 38% have stopped using ChatGPT or similar services, which is huge. The remaining 18% have switched to Perplexity, preferring a search engine that summarizes and cites sources rather than reading full webpages (bye Google Classic!)
This indicates we're still in the early stages of getting people on board, explaining why not many stick around.
This weekβs news marks a major trend toward self-regulation in data usage. This involves forming partnerships to secure data for training models and addressing copyright with technical solutions like OpenAI's βMedia Manager.β OpenAI is ahead due to their funding, potentially limiting other players. Observing how this evolves will be crucial, as media companies and countries have varied opinions. This step is essential but could prove challenging to manage.
Cheers,
Sam
